It's No Mow May and to go one step further, we're planning to turn two areas of grass on Hampstead Heath into wildlife-rich wild flower meadows and we need your help!
After a meeting with Butterfly Conservation and Hampstead Heath's ecologist, we have identified two areas to transform from grass into wild flower areas to create richer habitats for pollinators and other wildlife.
Your support will help us:
- Buy wild flower seeds of the right kind for our soil and levels of light
- Supervise volunteers to prepare the ground (removing the fertile topsoil to use elsewhere), sow and water the wild flower areas
- Grow certain wild flowers from seed in pots to plant on as wild flower plugs in areas where they may need help to establish
Find out more about the project and how it links to our other work here.
If we exceed our target, this will enable us to also work on other areas that have been identified for improved wildlife-friendly planting.
